There was an old woman who lived in the wood

Down by the river sawya

She had a baby three mouths old

She had a penknife long and sharp

She stuck the penknife long in the baby's heart

The more she stuck the more it bled

There where three knocks came a-knocking at the door

There were three policemen and a man

Are you the woman who killed the babe?

They took her away and put her in jail

They pulled the rope and she got hung

Now that was the end of the woman in the woods
